MCC in action
In 2006, MCC approached Kookaburra (the ball-making company) who made balls that could play day-night Test matches. The Australian company entered action mode and produced a nice pink ball.
Why only pink
After several trials and investigations with yellow and orange balls, it was found that there are many shortcomings. Not only this, but TV cameras also could not show such colored balls well. Then it was decided that only the pink ball would be used.
How the ball is made
Pink balls are hand-drawn from the beginning to the final stage, using cork, rubber and woolen thread for sewing. No machine of any kind is used, nor is it immersed in Greece. It takes 10 days to prepare pink colored leather. After this, this pink ball is also prepared on the lines of the red ball.
Swing track
The pink ball swings a lot in the initial 10 to 15 overs. In this context, the fast bowlers can get a lot of benefits but after that when the seam starts to soften, then the batsmen can easily play it.
These countries played test with a pink ball
Australia, New Zealand, England, South Africa, West Indies, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe have already played Test matches with Pink Ball. Now the name of India and Bangladesh will also be added to it.
